TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Over the weekend, 11 teams will take the court across 20 matches in the seventh annual Queens Fall Classic inside Curry Arena. The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team, the tournament host, will play in four of those contests in front of its home crowd.
Queens' first match of the weekend takes place on Friday, September 6 at 3:00 p.m. against Converse College from Conference Carolinas. The Royals own a 7-2 advantage in the overall series dating back to the 2008 season, including wins in the six matchups. Last season, Queens secured its fourth straight 3-0 win over the Valkyries in early-August.
Friday's nightcap will see Queens take the floor against Peach Belt Conference power Lander University at 7:30 p.m. The Bearcats, who appeared in last season's NCAA Division II Tournament, hold a 4-2 edge in the all-time series. The two sides last meet during the 2018 season when Lander secured a 3-0 win over Queens on a neutral court in the USC Aiken Invitational.
The first matchup for the Navy and Vegas Gold on Saturday comes against another Conference Carolinas opponent in Barton College at 12:15 p.m. The Bulldogs have a 22-15 lead in the all-time series, but the Royals took last year's matchup by a 3-1 score inside the Levine Center.
Queens' concludes the weekend against another regional foe, the defending Peach Belt Conference Champion Augusta University at 7:00 p.m. The Jaguars are 5-3 against Queens, dating back to the 2012 season. In last year's meeting, Augusta collected a 3-1 triumph in late-October.
The Royals return all primary starters from a year ago, including South Atlantic Conference Preseason All-Conference honorees
