Kristi Kemp Joins Women’s Lacrosse Coaching Staff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head women's lacrosse coach Clare Short announces the addition of 2012 Queens graduate Kristi Kemp to her staff as an assistant coach. Kemp was a student-athlete on the women's lacrosse team from 2009-2012 and has since continued working in the sport as a coach while simultaneously pursuing a career as a nurse.

"We are thrilled to add Kristi to our coaching staff," Short stated. "She will bring experience to our program through her many years of coaching. Kristi being a Queens alum is incredible. She can share her passion for this program and university. We are lucky to have her and excited for the upcoming season."

In her four seasons as a midfielder for the Royals, Kemp accumulated 66 goals and nine assists for a total of 75 points. She also recorded 112 ground balls, 36 draw controls, and 29 caused turnovers. She earned second team all-conference honors following her senior season.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity Coach Short has given me to return to Queens," Kemp commented. "I am excited for the chance to share my knowledge, love, and respect for the game and this school. What alum wouldn't be excited for this great opportunity?"

After earning her bachelor's degree in biology and pre-physical therapy from Queens in 2012, Kemp obtained her Registered Nurse Diploma from Mercy School of Nursing in 2016. Additionally, she is currently enrolled at UNC-Wilmington working toward a bachelor's degree in nursing and working for Atrium Health as a registered nurse.

Kemp also coaches for Queen City Stars and Charlotte Country Day.
