CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team faced Jacksonville (6-2, 2-0) on the road this afternoon, falling 13-8 to the Dolphins.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the opening quarter of play, thanks to three straight goals scored by
Kayleen Favreau, Queens would hold just a one-goal lead, 4-3, heading into the second. The Dolphins then scored six straight goals to lead 9-4 with 78:12 left to play in the half.
Sienna Wyatt and Favreau answered with two unassisted goals to send the game into the break with a 9-6 score.
The Royals opened the third with a pair of goals to pull within one, 9-8, of Jacksonville, but the home team matched the two goals to take an 11-8 lead into the final quarter. Both attacks went cold in the fourth, but the Dolphins eventually found the back of the net twice in the final five minutes to secure the five-goal win over the Royals.
