Box Score MARS HILL, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to four in a row on Saturday evening with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-12, 25-18) win over host Mars Hill University in a South Atlantic Conference showdown.
Queens (5-1, 2-0 SAC) tallied 72 digs and matched a season-high with 12 total blocks in holding the Mars Hill (2-3, 0-2 SAC) offense to a .007 hitting mark. Offensively, the Royals had four different players finish with at least eight kills, while juniors
Jordan Proszenyak,
Casey Tarvin, and
Logan Witt each hit above the .250 mark.
The Royals built a lead of 10-4 early in the opening set on a double block from Witt and freshman
Anna McLain before extending the advantage to 19-11 on a Tarvin service ace. Despite eight unanswered points from the Lions, Queens hung on for the first set victory.
Queens cruised to a double-digit win in the second frame, forcing Mars Hill to hit negative, en route to a 2-0 match lead. The Royals rallied from an early deficit in the third set of action, taking the lead at 11-10 following a double block from Tarvin and sophomore Lindsey Elmore. Queens remained in front, building a lead as large as seven points, to secure the straight set victory.
Tarvin led the attack with a match-high 10 kills and hit .276 to go along with 14 digs. Proszenyak followed with nine kills and 18 digs of her own, while McLain and Witt tallied eight kills apiece. Witt also finished with five total blocks for Queens. Swarts collected her third double-double of the season with 30 assists and 10 digs.
Queens continues its three-game road trip on Tuesday, Sept. 17 when the team travels to Salisbury, N.C. for a matchup with Catawba College at 7 p.m.
