This will be the first match up between the two teams this season. In their most previous series during the 2017 season, Queens swept the Tornado, 9-8 and 7-6. The Royals lead the all-time series with King 3-2.
Courtney Pearson secured both of those wins for Queens totaling 14 strikeouts in ten innings and giving up four earned runs.
Sabrina Martinez went 5-for-6 overall with two runs, two RBIs, a home run, and two stolen bases.
Alyssa Strickler went 3-for-4 with two runs, four RBIs and two home runs.
Morgan Lowe led the Tornado offense in last year's games going 5-for-8 overall with two runs, five RBIs, and one home run. Hannah Devotie also went 3-for-7 overall and recorded two runs while Kaycee Casteel went 4-for-8 to record three runs and two RBIs.
The winner of today's game avoids elimination and will face the loser of Game 4 between No. 1 North Georgia and No. 4 Coker College at 5 p.m.
Queens has faced Coker four previous times this season. The teams split their regular season series but then the Cobras defeated the Royals in both the conference semifinals and yesterday's opening round of the NCAA DII Southeast 1 Regional.
The Royals have not faced North Georgia since 2016 when they fell to the Knighthawks, 3-0, in the Mid-South Classic.
