GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team began its club season with two wins over Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon, taking game one of the doubleheader 11-4 before sealing the sweep with a 7-3 victory in game two.
The Royals, competing as a club sport in the spring before officially opening NCAA Division II competition during the 2019 season, totaled 18 runs on 23 hits across the two contests and recorded 10 stolen bases, while the pitching staff gave up only eight hits and struck out 16 hitters.
"It was great to finally get on the field and see how our talent transferred to live competition," said Head Baseball Coach
Jack McDowell. "We threw the ball really well overall, swung it great in both games and ran the bases with abandon which will always be an element of my teams. By no means did we play flawlessly but we got to see what we look like as a unit and I believe the guys are as excited as our coaching staff is to continue to improve and to compete."
Game One: Queens 11, Greensboro 4

Game Two: Queens 7, Greensboro 3
The second and final game of the day saw Queens fall behind 2-1 after three innings of play, however, six runs across the next three innings gave the Royals a 7-2 lead it would not relinquish. Greensboro scored a lone run in the bottom half of sixth but were shut down for the remainder of the game.
Junior
