THE SHORT STORY
Queens University of Charlotte won its second-straight road game at Stetson on Saturday, 8-2, to take a 2-0 lead in the ASUN weekend series. It is the first consecutive road wins by the Royals since April 2024.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Royals cleanup hitter Thomas Mathay doubled to right center to drive in Hunter Huneycutt for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- A four-run second inning provided some distance for Queens. Dylan Schaefer laid down an RBI bunt single to start the scoring, followed by a two-run Grayson Childers double and an Annibal Rivera sac fly.
- Stetson pushed across one run in the third and one in the fifth inning to pull within two runs.
- Queens added three runs in the top of the ninth, sparked by a Mitchell Basterrechea RBI single. Justin Hudson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to push across the Royals' seventh run, and Matthew Suppa drove home Basterrechea on an RBI fielder's choice.
- Avery Booker closed out the ninth inning on the mound, relieving Joey Ruller (2-6), who struck out nine through eight innings.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Queens tied its season high with four doubles in the game, and now has seven doubles in the weekend series.
- Grayson Childers had two doubles and two RBI, stretching his season total to 10 doubles.
- The Royals collected 11 hits to Stetson's eight.
Hunter Huneycutt led Queens with a 3-for-4 game at the plate, scoring twice.
- Joey Ruller pitched a season-high eight innings with a season-high nine strikeouts, including four looking. He allowed no walks for the first time this season.
