CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team seeded fourth in the South Atlantic Conference Championship will face top-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University tomorrow at Dickson Field in the semifinal round. The Bears advanced to the second round of the tournament after receiving an opening round bye as a result of winning the regular season title.
Queens advanced on a quarterfinal win over fifth-seeded Catawba on Tuesday. The Royals defeated the Indians, 13-6, at home on the back of six points from
Nick Sawyer. Sawyer totaled four goals and two assists to lead Queens, while Lazlo Henning recorded a hat trick.
Justin Swick and
Duncan Smith added two goals apiece. In the net,
Anthony Valenza recorded 10 saves, while
Jonathan Paige won 16-of-18 face-offs.
Lenoir-Rhyne took the regular season game between the two teams by a score of 17-8. Swick led Queens with four goals, while Smith added two goals. Valenza totaled 11 saves in the loss.
The Bears were led by Eric Dickinson who scored four goals. Five others recorded two goals each while Ben Corrigan tallied five assists.
Tomorrow's game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., and it will be followed by the semifinal round game of second-seeded Wingate University and third-seeded Tusculum College.
