CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team begins postseason play on Tuesday, Nov. 14, when the team hosts Mars Hill University in a
South Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball Championship Quarterfinal contest.
Queens enters the tournament as the league's No. 3 overall seed with a 20-7 record, including a 14-6 SAC record. Mars Hill, the No. 6 seed, posted a 9-11 record in league play and an 11-16 mark overall after winning four of its last five matches.
The Royals have won 13 of their last 16 matches but are looking to rebound after a three-set loss to Carson-Newman University in the regular season finale. The Lions won four in a row before falling in their regular season finale, 3-0, to SAC Regular Season Champion Anderson University (S.C.).
The Queens offense is among the top of the SAC rankings, contributing 13.19 kills per set and leading the league with 179 total service aces. Queens also registers 19.34 digs per set, while the Lions lead all school with 22.73 digs per set and ranking fourth overall with 143 service aces.
Senior
Rebecca Cochran leads Queens with 280 kills (3.15/set) and 16 doubles-doubles, but has missed the last four contests. Fellow senior
Sydney Kunz has 15 double-doubles of her own, ranking second in the league with 11.03 assists per set and leading all SAC members with 39 service aces.

JayCee Jones is tops on the team with 4.04 digs per set.
Mars Hill's senior outside Lauren Hochstetler leads her team in kills (249), kills per set (2.44) and service aces (28), while ranking second on the squad with 4.27 digs per set.
Junior Maddie Spurgeon is second on the team with 226 kills, while senior Rebecca Butler and Sally Anne Johnson each have 212 kills to their credit. Butler is among the SAC leaders with 4.89 digs preset and Johnson leads her team with 87 total blocks (0.85 blocks/set).
In two previous matchups this season, Queens won by scores of 3-0 in Mars Hill, N.C. and 3-1 inside Curry Arena, posting a season-best .309 hitting percentage in the most recent contest.
Tomorrow's match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve in Charlotte, N.C. The SAC Semifinals and Finals will take place in Jefferson City, Tenn. on Friday, No. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18 on the campus of Carson-Newman.
