Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team, ranked 14^th in the nation, topped Lenoir-Rhyne University this afternoon, 17-7, to claim the top spot in the South Atlantic Conference at 6-0. The Bears drop to 5-1 in the league and 8-6 on the year with the loss.
 
The Royals extended their win streak to six today with their win and improve to 11-2 on the year.
 
Queens led 11-4 at the half of today's game on the backs of Brittany Larranaga, Maggie Masters and Abigail Paulus. After opening the game with six straight goals in the first 10 minutes, Queens allowed the Bears to put two points on the board. The Royals then outscored LR 5-2 in the final 15 minutes of the period to take a seven point lead into the break. Larranaga finished the half with a hat trick, while Masters and Paulus each scored two goals.
 
The Royals opened the second half with four straight goals to run away from the Bears for good as the running clock rule was enforced.
 
Larranaga completed play today with a season high five goals. Kelly Dowd and Paulus each recorded hat tricks, while Masters notched two goals. Hanna Scott led in assists with five, while Paulus dished out two.
 
Queens outshot LR 29-23, putting 25 shots on goal. The Royals also totaled 16 ground balls and won 12 draw controls. Christine Wiese recorded nine saves in goal for Queens, and Ines Flueck of the Bears totaled seven saves.
 
Kelsie Swanson and Gabby Sousa scored two goals apiece to lead the Bears.
 
Queens is back in action on April 14 at No. 17 University of Mount Olive.
