Cammy Case led the Royals in their 16-5 win over Pfeiffer University this evening recording a hat trick. Queens University of Charlotte improves to 9-2 in nonconference play with the win, while the Falcons fall to 3-9 on the year.
Case's hat trick was the first of her collegiate career.
Brittany Larranaga and
Kelly Dowd also recorded three points apiece on two goals and one assist each, while
Abigail Paulus tallied two goals.
Kourtney Goebel recorded a career high five assists tonight to go along with her one goal.
The Royals didn't allow the Falcons to score their first goal of the night until 12:49 in the first half. By that time Queens had three points on the board, and after the Falcons' score the Royals would put four more balls in the back of the net to lead 7-1 at the half.
Though the Falcons found some offensive rhythm in the second half, Queens continued to put goals on the board to maintain their lead. Case scored all three of her goals in the period beginning with back-to-back scores in the opening 10 minutes. Her third would come in the final 15 minutes of action as Queens closed the game with a 5-1 push to secure their victory.
Queens outshot Pfeiffer, 41-11, putting 31 shots on goal. The Royals also totaled 15 draw controls to Pfeiffer's eight, and 25 ground balls to the Falcons' 12. Goalkeeper
Christine Wiese totaled four saves in the win.
The Falcons were led by Cheyenne Green and Gracie Herbert, who each totaled two goals. Whitney Jaffe tallied one goal and three assists. In goal, Cassidy Wilson registered 15 saves.
The Royals face Pfeiffer University this evening on the road at 7 p.m.
