PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Queens University of Charlotte track and field teams continued competition at the Penn Relays today in Philadelphia, Pa., with
Khyle Higgs competing in the men's discus and
Nikia Squire racing in the 100 meter dash preliminary round. Additionally, the Royals had teams compete in the 4x200 finals College Women's Sprint Medley Championship of America Invitational.
Higgs started off the day of competition for Queens at 9 a.m. He would throw a distance of 48.79 meters during his third throw to take eighth place in the event. Higgs' mark a new school record and a new personal best for the senior.
Queens' 4x200 meter relay team raced in prelims recording a time of 1:42.34 for 31
st overall. The time clocked by
Miranda Wood,
Asia Hart,
Milan Golding and
Sarai Hayes was a new school record breaking the record of1:43.69 set at the Penn Relays two years ago.
Squire was the next Royal to compete on the day racing in the second heat of the 100 meter dash. She would win her heat with a time of 11.71, ranking fourth overall. Squire will race in the finals tomorrow at 3:35 p.m.
The sprint medley relay team made up of Wood, Hayes, Hart and
Kim Thiede finished the day for Queens taking 20
th place in their event with a time of 4:12.40.
The Royals will complete competition at the Penn Relays tomorrow with
Bret Myers competing in pole vault at 2 p.m. and Squire racing in the 100 meter dash finals at 3:35 p.m.
