CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team, ranked 20
th in the nation, will face-off against No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne University in the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m.
The Royals, who entered the tournament seeded third, moved on for a rematch with the Bears, seeded first, after defeating second seeded Wingate, 9-5 in the semifinal round of play. The Bears defeated fifth seeded Tusculum, 18-10, to advance.
Lenoir-Rhyne took the regular season meeting between the two teams, winning 12-11 with a goal at 2:16 in the second overtime period. 2016 SAC Player of the Year
Garrett Chan completed play with five points on four goals and one assists, while
Spencer Corkery added a hat trick. Mike Hanlon led the Bears with seven points after totaling four goals and three assists.
Chan leads the Royals this season with 76 points on 34 goals and 42 assists, while
Garrett Sadler and Corkery follow with 55 and 42 points, respectively. Additionally, Chan led the SAC in points and assists during the regular season. Sadler and Corkery currently rank second and third in goals.
Hanlon leads Lenoir-Rhyne this season with 58 points on 38 goals and 20 assists. He also ranks third in the SAC in points, and fourth in goals and assists. Carson Sterling follows with 40 points.
Tomorrow's championship game will take place at the Queens Sports Complex in Charlotte, N.C., at 2 p.m.
