Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (11-6) advanced to the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Finals tonight with a 9-5 win over Wingate University (10-6) in the semifinal round at the Queens Sports Complex. This will be the second time in three years that the Royals will play for the SAC Championship title.

Jack Smith would score the first goal of the day at 9:33 in the first, and
Garrett Sadler soon followed with another at 6:28 to give the Royals a 2-0 lead that would stand until the horn sounded heading into the second. However, the Bulldogs would find some momentum in the first five minutes of the period scoring two goals to knot the game at 2-2 with 10:05 to play.
Garrett Chan found an unassisted goal at 5:04 to help Queens regain control, but a goal from Wingate's Alex Llerandi followed to tie things up at 3-3 heading into the halftime break.
After the Bulldogs put the first point of the second half on the board, the Royals responded with three unanswered goals to lead 6-4 at the end of the third. Queens' then outscored Wingate 3-1 in the final period to take the 9-5 win, avenging the regular season loss to the Bulldogs.
Queens outshot Wingate, 31-28, putting 20 shots on goal.
Eric Dolan completed play with 13 saves for the win in goal, while Jacob Ormerod took the loss after totaling 11 saves.
Sadler led the Royals with a hat trick this evening, while
Gavin Perry added two goals. Chan finished the night with one goal and one assist.
Jeremy Sullivan and Llerandi scored two goals apiece for Wingate.
The Royals, ranked 20
th in the nation, will take on No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne in the championship game on Saturday at 2 p.m., at the Queens Sports Complex.
