No. 14 Queens Tames Cobras on the Road

Box Score HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Junior midfielder Kelly Dowd led the Royals past Coker College after scoring four goals this evening. Queens University of Charlotte, ranked 14th in the nation, defeated the Cobras 19-6 to improve their record to 7-0 in the South Atlantic Conference, and 13-2 on the year. Coker falls to 7-7 on the year and 1-6 in the league with the loss.
 
In addition to scoring four goals, Dowd recorded an assist, three draw controls and two ground balls. Hanna Scott continued her stellar play tallying three goals and three assists, while Gabby Farina also recorded a hat trick on the day.
 
The Royals won this evening's game in the first half of play starting out with a 7-0 run. Queens would not let the Cobras find the back of the net until 19:31, and afterwards they would outscore Coker 8-2 in the remaining minutes of the half to take a 15-3 lead in to the break.
 
Queens outshot Coker 28-22, putting 23 shots on goal. Christine Wiese took the win in goal after totaling eight saves.
 
Faith Kent led the Cobras with four goals. Cassie Dodge totaled four saves in goal.
 
The Royals are back at home on Saturday, April 23 for Senior Day. They will welcome Newberry College to the Queens Sports Complex for a game slated to begin at 1 p.m.
