Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team faced off against No. 15 Pfeiffer University this afternoon falling 14-12 to the Falcons. The No. 20 Royals now hold a 2-1 record after picking up their first loss of the year, while Pfeiffer improves to 3-0.
 
Freshman attacker Garrett Sadler led the Royals with four goals today, while Gaven Perry added two goals. Senior attacker Garrett Chan totaled three assists and one goal, and JT Thompson recorded one goal and one assist. Steven Swift tallied two assists. At the face-off, Jonathan Paige was victorious in 15 of his 23 appearances. He also totaled eight ground balls.
 
After Jesse Olliver and Thompson of Queens netted the first two goals of the game, Pfeiffer would close the opening quarter with four goals to take a 4-2 lead into the second. Two more goals early in the second then gave the Falcons their largest lead of the day, 6-2, but a 4-1 push by the Royals at the close of the period helped Queens pull within one, 7-6, of the home team before the break.  
 
Queens' Griffin Stechmiller found the back of the net at 12:28 for the first score in the second half to knot things at 7-7, and the two teams would trade goals until the Falcons scored four in a row to lead 12-8 heading into the final 15 minutes of action.
 
The Royals would outscore the Falcons 4-2 in the final period, but the two insurance goals by the home team would secure their win for the day.
 
Queens was outshot 43-35 by the Falcons today, though the Royals put 24 shots on goal to Pfeiffer's 22. Queens also edged the Falcons in ground balls, 29-28, and won 16 of the 27 face-offs. Senior goalkeeper Eric Dolan totaled eight saves in the loss.
 
Pfeiffer was led by Kyle Enkelmann and Cole Sheen who each scored four goals. Blade Garlow added two goals. Mike Moorehead recorded 12 saves in goal.
 
Queens will return to action at home on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. when they welcome Belmont Abbey College to Dickson Field.
