CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team used a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Mercyhurst (1-4) at Dickson Field, improving to 2-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After tying the game at 2-2 with back-to-back goals, Queens found themselves trailing the Lakers, 3-2, heading into the second quarter, after Mercyhurst scored a late goal. The second period followed suit, producing a lead change on the back of three consecutive goals scored by Queens and a 6-6 tie at the break.
Mercyhurst came out of the half with the momentum, scoring three unanswered goals to move back in front, 9-6. However, a goal from Cater Petersen with just five seconds left in the period seemed to shift things offensively for the Royals heading into the final 15 minutes of action.
Following an early goal by the Lakers in the fourth period, Queens scored seven goals in a row to take control of the game for good.
