Box Score WINGATE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team will still be on the hunt for their first South Atlantic Conference win when they travel to face Carson-Newman College this weekend after falling 5-0 to No. 16 Wingate University this evening. The Royals now sit 2-4 on the year and 0-3 in the league, while the Bulldogs hold a 5-0-2 overall record and a 3-0 SAC record.
Queens was outshot 21-9 by the Bulldogs who put seven shots on frame compared to three shots on goal by the Royals.
Sergio Lemus took the loss in goal after recording two saves, while Wingate's Pablo Jara took the win with three saves.
The Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead over Queens before the 20 minute mark of tonight's match, scoring their first goal in the third minute when Jon Ander tucked a ball into the corner of the net. Ander then followed with another goal in the 15
th minute with a grounder that snuck past Lemus before Callum Ross found the back of the net in the 18
th.
Wingate then put two more points on the scoreboard in the second half with the first coming from Charlie Machell in the 55
th. They would close things out with a third goal from Ander in the 70
th.
The Royals are back in action at Carson-Newman College on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
