Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. – Queens University of Charlotte's
Dudu Campos of the men's soccer team scored a game-tying goal in the 66
th minute of today's road game forcing things into overtime against Lincoln Memorial University. Unfortunately, the Railsplitters would find the back of the net in the 91
st to take the 2-1 win, leaving Queens still in the hunt for their first conference win of the season. The Royals now sit at 2-3 on the year and 0-2 in South Atlantic Conference play, while LMU improves to 5-0 on the year and 2-0 in league action.
The Railsplitters found themselves holding a 1-0 lead after George Burne found the back of the net in the 31
st minute. Burne scored the goal on a flick after receiving a long cross from Leonardo Da Silva.
LMU's lead held until Campos collected a punched out save by Pedro Ozi who was playing in goal for the Railsplitters. Campos then put the ball in the net before Ozi could get back in position, tying the game at 1-1 with about 23 minutes left in regulation.
However, the Railsplitters responded just 1:52 seconds into overtime when Victor Peres bicycle kicked the ball into the net past Queens'
Sergio Lemus for the win. Alexandre Leao was awarded the assist on the golden goal.
Queens was outshot 23-18 in today's game. Additionally, the Railsplitters put 14 shots on goal compared to Queens' seven. Lemus completed play with a new career high 12 saves, while Ozi of LMU totaled six saves.
The Royals are back in action on the road at No. 19 Wingate University. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m., and the game will be featured on ESPN3.
