Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team, ranked 13
th in the latest IWLCA national poll, defeated Tusculum College by a score of 25-11 this afternoon to complete South Atlantic Conference play undefeated at 8-0. It is the second straight season that the Royals, 11-4 this season, have secured the regular season title undefeated in conference play. Tusculum falls to 9-4 on the year and 5-3 in the league following the loss.
Jena Ready led the Royals today in goals with six to go along with one assist.
Maggie Masters led in points with eight after totaling five goals and three assists, while
Brittany Larranaga followed her with five goals and two assists.
Abigail Paulus recorded one goal and five assists, and
Kelly Dowd notched a hat trick and two assists.
Nicole Forgione finished the game with two goals and two assists, and
Gabby Farina added two goals.
Queens began the game with the hot hand scoring six straight goals in the opening 10 minutes of action. Following a goal from Tusculum's Kelsey Crow at 20:28, the Royals then added four straight points to the board to go ahead 10-1 with 17:45 to play. Despite a 4-0 push by the Pioneers late in the half, Queens was able to take a 15-8 lead into the half.
The Royals continued their dominant play on the offensive end in the second half. They would outscore Tusculum 10-3 after going on another 6-0 run in the period to take the game 25-11.
Today, the Royals saw their highest point total of the season, and it was their third consecutive 20-plus point game. Additionally, Queens outshot the Pioneers 43-25 putting 34 shots on goal. The Royals also totaled 24 ground balls to Tusculum's 13.
Danielle Horoschak took the win in goal with seven saves on the day.
Crow led the Pioneers with four goals and one assist, while Savannah Elliott recorded a hat trick. Katilin Winnie took the loss in goal after totaling three saves in 18:47. Brooke Wagner recorded six saves in 41:13.
The Royals are back in action on Monday, April 13 against No. 3 Lindenwood at 7 p.m.
