After seeing an even slate through the first inning, the Pioneers found three unearned runs with Culler taking the first scoring play off a single into center field by Treslyn Reese. Alix Kruel soon brought home Nicole Ball and Reese before the inning closed. The Royals struggled to stop the Pioneers at the next at bat as five crossed the plate before the third out.
