Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. – Competing despite poor field conditions, the Royals (5-5) collected a 9-6 road win at Lincoln Memorial University (1-8) this afternoon. The win helps Queens University of Charlotte improve to 4-1 in South Atlantic Conference play, while the Railsplitters drop to 0-6 in the SAC.
Casey Hock led the Royals with four goals and one assists today, while
Evan Farkas totaled three goals and one assists. Additionally,
Eric Dolan recorded 11 saves in goal to capture the win.
After Hock put two goals on the board in the opening period to put the Royals ahead 2-1, Queens would go scoreless in the second quarter of action. Meanwhile, the Railsplitters' Dylan Neisler put two balls in the back of the net to give the home team a 3-2 lead over Queens at the break.
A break would be all the Royals needed to get their offense going in the third where Hock and Farkas combined for five unanswered goals, two man-up, to help Queens lead 7-3 with 5:14 on the clock. A goal from LMU's Jared Courchene at 3:46 would give the game a 7-4 score heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
Both teams traded goals in the fourth putting two additional points on the board apiece to give the game a final score of 9-6 in the Royals' favor.
The Royals were outshot 32-25, but put 19 shots on goal compared to LMU's shot on goal count of 17. The Royals also totaled 42 ground balls to LMU's 32, and won the faceoff battle, 15-4.
Neisler would end the game leading the Railsplitters in goals with three, while goalkeeper Joe Medel totaled nine saves in the loss.
The Royals return home to Dickson Field on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when they will host Catawba College.
