Royals outshot by No. 1 Limestone

Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team, ranked 14th in the nation, dropped to 2-3 on the year following tonight's 18-7 loss to No. 1 Limestone College on the road. The Saints now sit undefeated on the year at 5-0.

Trailing the Saints 3-0, Queens would see their first goal of the night come from Spencer Corkery with 6:38 on the clock in the first period. However, Corkery's goal would be the only of the period for the Royals as Limestone closed the opening 15 minutes scoring twice more to lead 5-1 at the break.

After the Saints scored a quick goal early, Corkery would match for Queens with his second of the game at 5:29. A goal from Queens' leading scorer this season, Evan Farkas, at 4:02 then cut Limestone's lead to three.

With 42 seconds on the clock, Limestone's Reid Reinholdt found the back of the net for the second time of the night with hopes of his team taking a 7-3 lead into the locker room. However, Queens' Garrett Chan had other plans zipping the ball past Saints keeper Patrick Sheridan for his first score of the evening.

The Saints really took control of the game tonight in the third quarter scoring seven goals to Queens' one in the period. After seeing Limestone increase their lead to six with three straight goals, Corkery would sneak one into the net for Queens at 7:41. The Royals then went scoreless for the remainder of the period as the Saints placed four more points on the board to stretch their lead out to nine, 14-5.

The Royals, needing a run in the fourth, would not see another goal until Farkas scored with 6:28 left to play in regulation. The senior midfielder's goal followed two from the Saints giving the game a 16-6 score. JT Thompson joined in on the action with a goal at 4:42 cutting the home team's lead to nine once again, but his shot would be the last to find the back of the net for the Royals. Limestone would net two more in the final minutes to give the game a final score of 18-7.
