Hock nets golden goal in win over Pfeiffer

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte's Casey Hock rattled a ball into the net with 2:21 on the clock in overtime to lead the Royals past Pfeiffer University on Dickson Field. The 11-10 win over the Falcons was the Royals' second victory of the season and brings their record to 2-2. Pfeiffer falls to 2-1 on the year after being handed their first loss.

Evan Farkas and Hock led the Royals today with three goals apiece, while Tariek Harris added two goals. Garrett Chan led in assists with five on the day, while JT Thompson and Hock each tallied one. Leading in ground balls was faceoff specialist Jonathan Paige who totaled 12 after winning 19-of-24 faceoffs. Eric Dolan took the win in goal after recording 13 saves.

Trailing 7-5 at the start of the third quarter, Queens would net three unanswered goals in the period to hold an 8-7 lead heading into today's final 15 minutes of regulation. A goal by Farkas at 13:21 gave the Royals a two point lead, 9-7, which they held on to until Pfeiffer's Mike Triolo found the back of the net with 5:07 on the clock to bring his team back to within one. Farkas then scored his 10th goal of the season at 2:44 after receiving a pass from Chan to put the home team ahead 10-8.

Another Pfeiffer goal at 2:08 pulled the visitors within one again, and a penalty at 1:51 sending Queens' Mike Reed to the box for a minute would allow the Falcons to net the game-tying goal with 1:37 left in regulation. Paige would win the next faceoff, but a Queens turnover prevented the Royals from taking a final shot for the win. However, Queens Dolan would come up huge in the closing seconds turning away a shot for the win from Pfeiffer's Cole Paciejewski for the win.

Queens' Paige won the opening faceoff in overtime, and the Royals' Hock would score the game-winner during the Royals' first and only offensive possession of the period.

The Royals were outshot 34-28 today, but won the battle for groundballs, 32-21.

Pfeiffer was led by Matt Michaeli who scored three goals, while Kyle Pauwels, Derek Thomas and Triolo each netted two goals. Goalkeeper Michael Moorehead totaled six saves in the loss.

Queens will be back in action February 25 at No. 1 Limestone College.
