No. 3 LIU Post tops Queens on the road

Box Score SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team traveled to face No. 3 LIU Post at a neutral site in Severna Park, Md., this afternoon falling 12-8 to the Pioneers. The Royals, ranked 10th in the nation, now hold a 0-2 record while the Pioneers begin their season at 1-0.
 
Senior attacker Casey Hock led the Royals with four points after totaling two goals and two assists. Senior midfielders Evan Farkas and Justin Kestler also netted two goals apiece in the game, while Spencer Corkery and Tim Cloud each recorded one goal. Goalkeeper Eric Dolan completed the game with 17 saves.
 
Farkas would net the first goal of the day with eight minutes on the clock in the opening period when the Royals took advantage of a man-up opportunity. The Pioneers quickly knotted the game up at 1-1 not even a minute later, and they would take a 2-1 lead when Matt Bellando put one in the back of the net at 4:33. Another penalty by the Pioneers allowed the Royals' Hock to score another man-up goal at 1:55, and the quarter ended with both teams sitting even.
 
LIU Post would take over in the second half scoring five goals in a row to take a 7-2 lead. A goal from Farkas with 17 seconds left in the half took the Royals into the locker room trailing the Pioneers 7-3 at the half.
 
Out of the break, the Pioneers appeared to still have the momentum notching a quick goal from Chris Caiazza at 13:18, and then following that with another goal from Bellando at 7:59. Kestler of the Royals would break up the Pioneers spurt with a goal for Queens at 7:46, but two more LIU Post goals would give the game an 11-4 score heading into the fourth.
 
After getting off to a slow start offensively in the fourth, Queens would close the game with a 4-1 run with the first goal of the period coming from Hock at 8:46. Cloud followed with the second at 6:29, and the final two were man-up goals from Corkery and Kestler.  
 
The Royals were outshot 52-24 today, and lost the battle for ground balls, 25-18.
 
Bellando led the Pioneers with six points today after recording five goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Adam Winne took the win after totaling six saves.
 
The Royals are back in action at home when they open South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Coker College.
