Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (2-7, 0-4 SAC) fell to the visiting Carson-Newman Eagles (7-2, 1-2, SAC) 72-50 on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

Sheridan Pressley scored a career-high 17 points in the game for the Royals. She also added six rebounds and four assists in the loss.
McKell Oliverio was the only other Royal to score double digits as she added 12 for Queens.
Tyra Shelton put in a very good shift in her first action of the season as she snagged eight rebounds for the Royals.

The Royals shot 30.8 percent from the field in the game, but they out-rebounded the Eagles 48-38. The difference in the game might have been turnovers, as the Royals turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 28 points for Carson-Newman.

Carson-Newman started the game off in healthy fashion as they built a 17-4 lead following two made free throws by Kaitlyn Cupples. Queens displayed outstanding passing with 1:57 remaining in the first quarter as
Nikki Gleason passed it to
Victoria Robinson who quickly moved it to a wide-open
Sheridan Pressley for a three pointer to make the score 19-9 Carson-Newman. The Royals worked hard to cut into the Eagles lead, but they would end the first quarter down 26-13. Queens struggled to find their shot in the second quarter as they only made one of their 14 shot attempts, but they would gather nine offensive rebounds on those missed shots. The Royals allowed the Eagles to shoot only 38.5 percent from the field in the first half, but found themselves down 40-20 at the break.

Carson-Newman went on a big scoring run in the third quarter as they shot 50 percent from the field and gained a 63-33 lead. The Royals only allowed the Eagles to score nine points in the final quarter and would end the game on a 17-2 run, but the Eagles were too strong in the end as they defeated the Royals 72-50.

Tatum Burstrom led the Eagles in scoring as she added 16 points in the game as well as four rebounds and four assists. Kailyn Brooks was second on the team in scoring as she added 13 points.

The Royals will be on the road for their last contest of the 2015 calendar year when they match up against Mars Hill University at 2:00 p.m.
