Men’s Soccer Set to Take On Anderson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team closed the regular season on a seven game win streak in conference play en route to recording a 9-7 record on the year. Their 7-4 South Atlantic Conference record gave them a fourth place finish in the league after being tabbed to complete play in eighth according to the SAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

As the fourth seed, Queens will host fifth seeded Anderson University (8-7-1) who also completed league play at 7-4. The Royals' 3-2 overtime win over the Trojans during the regular season would give them the leg up in the seedings. After falling to Queens and Lincoln Memorial, the Trojans closed their regular season with a win over Mars Hill. Andre Carle leads Anderson with 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Lars Kaula has 15 points on six goals and three assists.

The Royals return to the SAC Championships for the first time since winning the tournament in 2013. A 2014 season pegged with injuries left Queens on the outside looking in during last season's SAC Championships. This season, the Royals dropped five games in a row before getting things back on track to close things out in high fashion.

Currently, Corey Brown leads the Royals with 26 points on nine goals and eight assists. Brown also ranks first in the SAC in points, second in goals and third in assists. He also leads the league and ranks 21st in the nation in game-winning goals with four. Additionally, Brown ranks 25th in the nation in assists, 39th in points and 61st in goals. Junior midfielder Marc-Kevin Schwenk has 15 points on five goals and five assists.

On the defensive end, Queens' Matt Current has closed the season at 5-1-0, tallying three shutouts to help lead Queens to victory.

Queens defeated Anderson on October 21 by a score of 3-2 in overtime. Brown scored the golden goal with two seconds left on the clock.
