Brown Nets Golden Goal Over Anderson

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team was able to snag a 3-2 overtime win over Anderson University (7-6-1, 6-3) this evening following a goal scored by junior midfielder Corey Brown. The Royals improve to 7-7 on the year and 5-4 in South Atlantic Conference play with the win.

With the game tied 2-2 at the start of the second half, neither team would find the back of the net before the end of regulation forcing the game into overtime where Brown scored the golden goal with just two seconds on the clock. After receiving a great pass from Dudu Campos, Brown dribbled up the field beating Anderson's defense to get a one-on-one opportunity with the Trojans' keeper, Devon Ashy. Brown's shot sent towards the right corner of the net floated just out of Ashy's reach giving the Royals the victory.

Brown would score the first of his two goals today in the second minute of action after receiving a through ball from Marc-Kevin Schwenk in the box. The pair then teamed up in the eighth minute with Schwenk on the finishing end to give Queens a 2-0 lead.

The Royals held on to their two-goal advantage until the 27th minute when Andrew Carle put the Trojans on the board after receiving a ball from Nick Bryant. Carle would also be the one to tie the game up at 2-2 almost 10 minutes later, beating Queens' backline to score an unassisted goal.

Queens outshot the Trojans 19-11, though both teams put seven shots on goal each. Matt Current of Queens finished play with five saves, while Ashy totaled four saves for Anderson.

The Royals will be back in action at Dickson Field on Saturday against Coker for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
