Men’s lacrosse set for first ever NCAA Tournament appearance

INDIANAPPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time in school history the Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team will be dancing in the NCAA DII Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. The Royals, ranked ninth in the nation at 12-4 on the season, enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the South Region. The Royals will travel to face No. 2 Limestone College, seeded first in the South, on Saturday, May 10. The game time has yet to be determined.
 
Saturday's game between the Royals and the Saints will be the 13th meeting in history with Limestone holding an 11-1 record. Earlier this season, Queens fell to Limestone by the score of 9-6 in a snow storm.
 
Since then the Royals collected the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Title along with the SAC Tournament Title. The Saints will also enter Saturday's game having won the regular season title in Conference Carolinas along with the tournament title.
 
The NCAA championship provides for an eight-team tournament. Four teams from each of the two regions (North and South) are selected to participate in the men's lacrosse championship.
 
The first round sites and team matchups are as follows:
 
North Region:
 
*Adelphi vs. Dowling
*Le Moyne vs. LIU Post
 
South Region:
 
*Limestone vs Queens (N.C.)
*Tampa vs. Mercyhurst

Except for the championship game, all games will be played on the campus of one of the competing teams. This year's finalists will advance to Baltimore, Maryland, for the championship game at M&T Bank Stadium, which will be played at 4 p.m. ET, May 25, and shown via web stream on NCAA.com. That game will be preceded by the Division III championship at 1 p.m. ET, which can also be seen on NCAA.com. The Division I semifinals and championship are May 24 and 26 at the same site.
 
Tickets will be $5 for adults, $4 for students with ID, and $3 for children under 12.
