Box Score BREVARD, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team defeated Brevard College 21-3 this afternoon to complete the regular season undefeated in South Atlantic Conference play at 6-0. The Tonados are winless this season sitting at 0-12 on the year and 0-6 in the SAC.
Attacker
Jena Ready led the Royals with five goals, while
Megan Wagner added four goals.
Brittany Larranaga and
Abigail Paulus totaled two goals, while
Nicole Forgione also notched two points with a goal and an assist.
Once again the Royals were able to get off to a strong start early, scoring five unanswered goals in the first nine minutes of play. Brevard's Angela Canale would find the back of the net for the Tornados with 21 minutes on the clock, but her goal would be the only one scored for the home team in the first half as Ready got hot following her score with three consecutive goals. Queens would then score three more to end the half with an 11-1 lead.
Queens found three quick goals in the first four minutes of the second half before Jamila Brown scored an unassisted goal for Brevard. A 6-1 run for the Royals over the next 11 minutes of action would help Queens solidify their regular season title.
The Royals outshot Brevard 52-8 and dominated draw controls 17-9.
Danielle Horoschak earned the win in goal after getting four saves in the first half.
The 2014 Food Lion SAC Championships will take place April 17-19 at the Queens Sports Complex.
