Royals top Brevard in regular season finale

Box Score BREVARD, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team picked up a 19-5 victory this afternoon closing their regular season at 6-1 in the South Atlantic Conference at 10-4 on the year. The Tornados dropped to 1-6 in the league and 3-7 on the season with the loss.    
 
Attacker Casey Hock led the Royals with four goals, while attacker Garrett Chan also notched four points with a hat trick and an assist. Midfielders Justin Kestler and Evan Farkas recorded hat tricks for Queens as well. Jordan Lacastro led the Royals in ground balls with four while also tallying one goal and an assist. Face-off specialist Kenneth Stryker continued his dominating play winning 16-of-20 face-offs in the game.
 
After putting together a 5-1 lead with just under five minutes left in the opening quarter, the Royals found themselves holding just a narrow one-point lead, 5-4, heading into the second quarter due to a 3-0 push from the Tornados.
 
The Royals responded in the second building their lead out to six, 10-4, before the halftime break scoring five unanswered goals in the period. Farkas would be the one to get the Royals going with two goals scored early in the period, while Hock scored two in the latter part of the quarter.
 
Hock continued his hot shooting into the third quarter scoring two more goals in Queens' 4-0 push in the period. The Royals were also able to hold the Tornados scoreless for another 15 minutes.
 
Brevard's Blair Alexandersen ended his team's scoring drought 1:50 into the final period, but the Royals wouldn't allow another point from the Tornados for the remainder of play as they ended the game with five straight goals.
 
Queens outshot Brevard 49-16 and edged the Tornados 23-19 in ground balls. Eric Dolan picked up the win in goal after getting four saves.
 
Al Blackman and Robert Thornley led the Tornados with two goals each.
 
The 2014 Food Lion SAC Championships will take place April 17-19 at the Queens Sports Complex.
