Royals offense comes alive in split with Cobras

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Former conference rivals Coker and Queens met first their first games as SAC members today in what was a high scoring affair. Combining for 31 runs on 53 hits the teams split the doubleheader with the Cobras winning game one 7-4 and the Royals winning the second game 11-9.

Game One
In the first game between the Cobras and Royals, the home team Queens was able to establish an early 3-1 lead in the second off a two RBI homer by center fielder Whitney Britt. With the Cobras rallying Queens was only able to have one more run cross the board off an Amanda Mead single.

From that point on it was Coker's game as they took the lead in the sixth inning and never looked back. Only outhitting the Royals 14-13, the visitors managed to come up with clutch hits when needed and took the first game by the score of 7-4.

Taylor Rosenbalm led the Royals with three hits and joining her with multiple hits were Micaela Hayes, Ashton Whitaker, Kaitlyn Cheek, and Britt.

Game Two

Unlike the first game, the second was a high scoring affair from the start. Combining for 15 runs in the first three innings, it was the pitcher Kaitlyn Bodine who led the Royals to an early lead and eventually win when she cranked two home runs for six RBI's in the first three innings.

Joining her with multiple hits were Hayes, Rosenbalm, Whitaker, Meade, and Samantha Martinez. Also chipping in with two RBI's was Robyn Levine. Bodine went all seven innings in the circle, and gave up nine runs while striking out eight.
