Box Score

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–  Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer (3-13, 3-8 SAC) put together a late run but was unable to find an equalizer in road loss to Lenoir-Rhyne (6-7-4, 6-4-1 SAC), Saturday, November 1, 2014, in Bears 2-1 victory. Queens will end the season with Montrell Morgan ranking second in school history for saves, tallying 168 for his career.

Lenoir-Rhyne found two early goals from Eric Elder to start the match. In the 16 minute mark, Elder took a pass from Makonnan Clare enabling him to dribble into the box and put one into the back of the net. His second goal came minutes later (28 minute mark) heading the ball off a cross from Josh Alderson.  Lenoir-Rhyne held control of the first half winning the shot war 11-5 as Morgan and Lenoir-Rhyne's keeper, Jorge Hernandez, each grabbed a save.

Philip Makhlouf would come inches away from a goal, hitting one off the post just a minute into the second half. Corey Brown forced Hernandez to make a play giving Queens another opportunity at 54 minute mark. Putting the Royals on the board, Ryan King found the back of the net as Marc-Kevin Schwenk gave King the ball at the top of the box allowing him to make a play. Queens out shot Lenoir-Rhyne 4-1 after the Royals goal, but would be unable to find the equalizer. For the second half, Queens would take eight shots to the Bears seven.

King and Brown would both put two shots on goal with King sliding one of those into the net.  Morgan added four additional saves to his already impressive record giving 74 saves overall for the year. Morgan's accomplishment ranks him third in the conference for overall saves and second for conference game saves.
