Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team hosted No. 18 Wingate University this evening at Dickson Field, falling 4-0 to the Bulldogs. The loss brings the Royals' record to 3-6 in South Atlantic Conference play and 3-11 on the year. Wingate improves to 10-2-1 on the season and 7-1-1 in the league with the shutout win.
The Bulldogs outshot Queens 11-7 tonight, but the big difference would come in shots on goal as Wingate put seven on frame to Queens' zero.
Wingate was led by Charlie Machell, who recorded a hat trick in tonight's game. Machell found the back of the net in the 39
th minute to score the game-winner. He added two more goals in the second half, one coming in the 46
th minute and the other coming in the 74
th.
Wingate's fourth goal was scored by Shaun Gadsby in the 49
th on a cross from Damian Goana. Goana finished the game with three assist.
Queens'
Montrell Morgan completed 90 minutes in goal, totaling three saves.
The Royals will have to turn things around rather quickly to get into post season contention. They will face Carson Newman on Saturday for Senior Night before closing the regular season at Lenoir Rhyne on November 1. Saturday's game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
