Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte (7-5) collected a 15-10 win over Mount Olive College (7-6) this afternoon on Senior Day at Dickson Field. The Royals hold on to the third place spot in the conference at 4-2, while the Trojans sit in fourth at 2-3 in league action.
The Royals opened the game on fire, putting four in the back of the net in the first four minutes of action. Mount Olive would wake up on the offensive end in the final 10 minutes, outscoring Queens 3-1. At the end of the period, Queens led 5-3.
The second period didn't see as much action on the offensive end as Queens'
Garrett Chan (Port Coquitlam, B.C., Terry Fox Secondary School) recorded his third goal of the game at 6:55 to give Queens a 6-3 lead. Following a goal from Mount Olive's Jake Duarte, Queens would score another one to head into the break ahead 7-4.
Queens began the second half netting three in a row before allowing the Trojans to score one at 3:10. Mount Olive would find another goal in the final minute of the third to trail Queens, 10-6 heading into the fourth.
A goal at 14:07 from
Justin Kestler (Pasadena, Md., Chesapeake) and another by
Casey Hock (Danville, Calif., Monte Vista) at 10:03 would help Queens double Mount Olive's goals as they led 12-6. The Trojans would then outscore Queens 4-1 over the next six minutes to close the home team's lead to three, 13-10, with 3:19 on the clock. Following a Mount Olive goal, Queens'
Kenneth Stryker (Millersville, Md., Severna Park) would win the face-off and sprint to the offensive end, firing the ball into the back of the net to switch the momentum back to Queens' end. Chan would deliver the dagger with 1:53 on the clock, scoring a goal on a feed from Hock.
Chan led Queens with five goals, while
Nick Wilkinson (Huntingtown, Md., The Calverton School) and Kestler added two apiece. Stryker finished the game winning 15-of-22 face-offs, while also collecting six ground balls.
Patrick Murphy (Easton, Pa., Easton Area) dominated on the defensive end recording five caused turnovers.
Eric Dolan (Hopkinton, Mass., St. Mark's School) took the win in the cage after getting 13 stops.
The Trojans were led by Matt Shields, Daniel Shields and Duarte, who each totaled two goals. Rocky Bowman collected 13 saves in goal.
The Royals will wrap up their regular season on the road with a game at Mars Hill College on April 13.
