With the game sitting at 3-1 in the Queens' favor at the close of the first period, the Royals would score four goals in row by the midway point of the second period. Lenoir-Rhyne's Ned Kaish would break up Queens' run for a moment at 2:24, but the Royals had two more left in them before the half, making the score 9-2 at the break.
Out of the break, Lenoir-Rhyne would make things interesting, outscoring Queens 4-1 to cut the home team's lead to four, 10-6, in the third. That was as close as the Bears would get though, as Queens erupted with seven straight goals in the fourth, while holding Lenoir-Rhyne scoreless.
Queens edged Lenoir-Rhyne in shots, 38-37, and won the battle for ground balls 38-27. Both teams turned the ball over quite a bit with the Royals totaling 22 and the Bears notching 23.
Connor Squires led the Bears with two goals. Steven McGhee took the loss in the cage after totaling seven saves.
The Royals are back at home on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Mount Olive College for Senior Day.
