Box Score BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team completed their season at 7-7 after falling 14-8 to No. 11 Pfeiffer University in the semifinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The Falcons advance to face Limestone College in the championship on Sunday.
The Royals struggled to keep control of the ball on the offensive end in the first two periods of play turning the ball over 11 times. Pfeiffer would capitalize on Queens' mishaps to head into the break with a 10-1 lead. Queens' lone goal was scored by
Casey Hock (Danville, Calif., Monte Vista) in the second.
In the third,
Evan Farkas (Havre de Grace, Md., C. Milton Wright) would score on a behind-the-back shot at 10:57 to make the score 10-2. Both keepers then stepped up turning just about everything they faced away from the net. Pfeiffer would put one in 3:34 left in the period to make the score 11-2 heading into the fourth.
Following two from Pfeiffer in the fourth, Queens would explode with a 6-1 run to close the game. The push proved to be too little too late as time was on the Falcons' side.
Queens was outshot 37-30, but won the face-off battle 14-11. The Royals turned the ball over a total of 18 times, while Pfeiffer committed 12 turnovers.
Hock led Queens with two goals and one assist, while
T.C. Whaley (Carlsbad, Calif., La Costa Canyon) notched two goals also.
Jimmy Baker (Prince Fredrick, Md., The Calverton School) added one goal and one assist.
Eric Dolan (Hopkinton, Mass., St. Mark's School) finished with seven saves in goal.
Kory Lutes led the Falcons with a hat trick, while three others notched two goals apiece. Hayden Kirk took the win in the net after getting 14 saves.
