Royals fall in the fourth to No. 3 Limestone

Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. – Queens University of Charlotte (5-5) faced No. 3 Limestone College (10-1) this afternoon, falling 12-6 on the road to the Saints. The Royals dropped to 3-2 in the league with the loss, while the Saints remained undefeated in conference play at 4-0.
 
After each team scored a goal in the third to keep the game knotted at 5-5, Queens would net the first goal in the fourth to hold a 6-5 lead with 13:03 left in regulation. The goal for Queens' Evan Farkas (Havre de Grace, Md., C. Milton Wright) would be the last for the Royals in the game as the Saints caught fire, putting seven unanswered points on the board before the final horn sounded.
 
The Royals got going first in today's game with a goal from Casey Hock (Danville, Calif., Monte Vista) at 10:49 in the first. Bobby Berman (North Andover, Mass., North Andover) then found the back of the net at 7:43 to give the Royals at 2-0 lead. The Royals would go on to end the quarter leading 4-3 over the Saints.
 
Limestone scored the only goal of the second quarter, tying the game up at 4-4 at the break.
 
Queens was outshot 32-20, and scooped up 33 ground balls to Limestone's 43.  
 
Hock led the Royals with three points after scoring one goal and dishing out two assists. Farkas notched two points with two goals. On the defensive end, Dillon Draper (Huntingtown, Md., The Calverton School) tallied three caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Patrick Murphy (Easton, Pa., Easton Area) collected two caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Eric Dolan (Hopkinton, Mass., St. Mark's School) took the loss in the net after getting six saves.
 
The Saints were led by Riley Loewen, who recorded a hat trick and one assists. Four other Saints notched three points apiece on the day, while Patrick Sheridan took the win in goal with nine saves.
 
The Royals are back in action on Wednesday at home against Lenoir-Rhyne University at 4 p.m.
