Box Score BELMONT, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte defeated Belmont Abbey College, 13-10, on the road this afternoon, improving to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. The Crusaders drop to 6-2 on the year and 1-1 in Conference Carolinas with the loss.
Following a goal from Scotty Steele that brought the Crusaders within one, 8-7, the Royals would use a 4-0 push in the fourth quarter to pull away in today's closely contested game.
Evan Farkas (Havre de Grace, Md., C. Milton Wright) would net two goals during the spurt to total four in the game.
Queens trailed on three occassions in the game with the last time coming at the 5:50 mark in the second quarter when the Crusaders led 3-2. Queens would close the half scoring three in a row to head into the break with a 5-3 lead.
Both teams notched three goals apiece in the third.
The Royals outshot the Crusaders 32-29 with Farkas leading the squad with eight. Also notching four points for Queens was
Casey Hock (Danville, Calif., Monte Vista) who totaled two goals and two assists.
Jimmy Chickerella (Columbus, Ohio, Olentangy Liberty), Kenneth Stryker (Millersville, Md., Severna Park), and
Justin Kestler (Pasadena, Md., Chesapeake) each collected two points in the win. Stryker also won 11- of-19 face-offs and scooped up five ground balls.
Patrick Murphy (Easton, Pa., Easton Area) led on the defensive end with four caused turnovers.
Daniel Marshall and Dan Morrissey led the Crusaders with six and five points, respectively.
Queens'
Eric Dolan (Hopkinton, Mass., St. Mark's School) took the win in the cage after getting 10 stops.
The Royals are back in action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Dickson Field.
