Box Score 2 JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Queens softball team travelled to face off against Carson-Newman today. The Royals were able to put together a strong offensive effort, and scored 15 runs in the doubleheader. Despite this effort the Royals split with the Eagles when they won the first game 9-4 and dropped the second 7-6.
In the first game the Royals had 12 hits to the Eagles' ten, and were led by
Megan Lathbury (Georgetown, Del.) who went 3-3 with two runs scored. Also adding multiple hits were
Amanda Meade (Bristow, Va.) and
Ashley Rollins (Fairfax, Va.)with two apiece.
Rollins started the game for the Royals in the circle and went four strong innings, before being relieved by
Kaitlyn Bodine (Scottsville, Va.). Combined the pair allowed four earned runs and struck out five to help give the Royals the win.
In game two the Royals found themselves in a 7-3 hole they rallied in the seventh, but ultimately their efforts fell one run short of tying the game. Britt led the offense with two hits and two RBI's, and
Lyndey McCurry (Commerce, Ga.) and Bodine went a combined six innings in the circle.
The Royals are currently 5-6 and travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday.
