Royals remain undefeated in conference play

Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte remains undefeated in Conference Carolinas play at 3-0 after picking up a 5-1 road win in men's soccer action at Mount Olive College. The Royals, ranked ninth in the NSCAA Southeast, are now 5-3 on the season, while the Trojans are 2-5-1.
 
Queens' Kevin Anderson (Mooresville, N.C., Mooresville ) scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute to put the Royals up 1-0 early. The Trojans were able to respond with a goal in the 44th that tied the game heading into the break.
 
The second half was all Queens as the Royals exploded with four additional goals, while holding the Trojans to zero. The first came when Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, W.Va., Princeton Senior) chipped a ball into Erick Suárez (Mexico City, Mexico, Myers Park), who beat Mount Olive's keeper one versus one in the 63rdThiago Andrade (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Modulo) then netted a goal of his own about three minutes later after receiving a header from Felipe Netto (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Modulo) that put the Royals in a breakaway situation. The final two goals of the game were scored by Spencer Peterman (Greensboro, N.C., Caldwell Academy) and Andrade, respectively, from in front of the goal.
 
The Royals outshot Mount Olive 20-10. Goalkeeper Montrell Morgan (Charlotte, N.C., East Mecklengburg) made his season debut in the net for Queens, and totaled five saves.
 
Queens will return home to face Belmont Abbey College on September 22 at 7:30 p.m.
