Volleyball splits doubleheader in Tennessee

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BRISTOL, TENN. – The Queens University of Charlotte Volleyball team traveled to King College to take on King and Lander University in a doubleheader this afternoon.  Queens went 1-1 on the day, with a loss in the early game against King and win in the afternoon match against Lander.
 
In the matchup against King the Royals found themselves with their backs against the wall after dropping the first two sets by the scores of 26-24 and 25-19. The Royals were able to claw back into the match with a win in set three by the score 28-26, but dropped the fourth set 25-18.
 
Offensively freshman setter McKenzie Martin (Stratford) directed the offense, and tallied 36 assists in the match. Lindsey Everhart (McNicholas) led the team with 12 kills, and was joined in double digits by Keri Kemp (Lake Mary) with 10 kills. Defensively junior libero Jocelyn Kellinger (Cave Spring) paced the Royals with 13 digs.
 
Against Lander he Royals won the first set 25-14, but dropped the next two by the scores of 25-23 and 25-17. After facing a 2-1 hole Queens was able to reverse the outcome and take two sets in a row by the scores of 25-18 and 15-12 to pick up the victory.
 
Everhart once again led the team with 17 kills, and was joined in double digits by Kemp and freshman Elizabeth Bialkowski (Millbrook)  Martin once again paced the offense with 49 assists.
 
Defensively Taylor Riley (E.C. Glass) and Kellinger led the way with 21 digs apiece. Joining them on the defensive end with double digit digs were Martin, Erin Mooney (Cardinal Mooney),  and Brittney Barren (Blaine).
 
The Royals currently stand at 8-5 overall, and 3-1 in conference play. They travel to Lenior-Rhyne to Tuesday to take on the Bears.
