Royals fall to Lakers in second game of the season

Box Score MORROW, Ga. –The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team took on Clayton State University on the road this evening falling 5-0 to the Lakers in nonconference action. The loss brings Queens' record to 1-1 in their opening weekend, and the Lakers' record to 2-0.
 
The Royals were outshot 6-2 in the first half en route to falling behind 2-0 by the break. Clayton State's Jonny Evans netted the first goal of the game a little over 14 minutes into play. Ado Junuzovic scored the second in the 38th minute.
 
The second half saw more shots from the Lakers once again as they put three more in the back of the net. The first two second half goals for Clayton State were scored by Alhagi Toure, while the final came from Junozovic on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
 
Queens finished the game with three shots to Clayton State's 16. Gersi Cilingiri (Berat, Albania, Wolfson) led the Royals with two shots on the night, while Simen Walmann (Nevlunghavn, Norway, Toppidrettsgymnaset) took the loss in the net after collecting six stops. Clayton State's Sean Merfeld earned the shutout win in goal.
 
Queens will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to face Brevard College. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
