Royals begin conference play with loss to Falcons

The Royals were defeated 13-10.

Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte traveled to face Pfeiffer University this afternoon in men's lacrosse action falling 13-10 to the Falcons. The Royals' record now sits at 4-4 (0-1 CC), while Pfeiffer improves to 8-3 (2-0 CC).

After James Shepard of the Falcons notched the first goal of the game 1:45 into play, the Royals scored two in a row taking a 2-1 lead. Pfeiffer would answer with two more, one coming from Shepard again, for a short lived 3-2 lead before T.C. Whaley (Carlsbad, Calif., La Costa Canyon) of Queens tied the game up at 3-3.

Queens took control scoring all four goals in the second quarter with two of those coming in a man-up situation. Evan Farkas (Havre de Grace, M.D., C. Milton Wright) scored both of his goals in the second. Queens headed into the breaks with a 7-3 lead.

However, the third and fourth quarters of the game featured an attacking Falcons squad that outscored the Royals 10-3 as they took the win right out of Queens' hands.

Corey Geroy (Horseheads, N.Y., Horseheads), Farkas and Whaley led Queens with three points apiece after each tallied two goals and an assists. Andrew Hyland (Newtown, Conn., Fairfield Prep) took the loss in the net after collecting 12 saves.

The Falcons were led by Shepard who finished with four goals. Cole Sheen scored three goals, while Tucker Hammock chipped in with two. Hayden Kirk took the win in goal after getting eight stops.

The Royals return to competition on Wednesday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at Wingate University.
