Softball has tough day one at Catawba College Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CATAWBA, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte softball team took to the diamond in their first day of action at the Catawba College Tournament. The Royals squared off against Tiffin University and Catawba College, and dropped both games by a narrow margin.

The Royals lost the first game 4-1 against Tiffin University, and followed that with 3-0 loss to Catawba College.  In the Catawba game, the Royals were led by the hot bat of Whitney Britt (Gibson, N.C., Scotland) who tallied two of Queens' four hits in the game. Chantel Dodge (Shalimar, Fla., Choctawhatchee) completed the game with only one earned run allowed and struck out five.

The Royals drop to 4-10 overall, but return to action tomorrow as the face Goldey-Beacom College, West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and Winston-Salem State in the final day of the tournament.
