Queens women’s tennis signs three 2013 prospects

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Head Tennis Coach Brett Karpman is pleased to announce the signing of three high school seniors to the Queens women's tennis team. This is the largest class of Karpman's six years at the helm, with more signings coming in the spring.
 
Olivia Laws from Newport Coast, California's Capistrano Connections Academy, joins Jaclyn Rock of Fort Lauderdale, Florida's Fort Lauderdale High School, and Jessee Clauson of Boulder, Colorado's Fairview High School as the newest future Royals.  Karpman is extremely excited about this group, and believes they will bring a great deal to Queens' already strong program.
 
“We were extremely fortunate to land our top choices in recruits,” he said. “These three young ladies will bring the experience and work ethic to raise our level of play. Each have a unique story and path, but share commonality in their character, integrity and work ethic.”

Olivia Laws a native of Newport Coast, California comes to Queens with a decorated resume consisting of numerous victories and strong finishes at a variety of tournaments. Laws resume includes a 2010 first place finish in the Pacific Coast League, a first place finish at the O.C. Tennis Academy Jr. Satellite (doubles), a first place finish at Costa Mesa Jr. Satellite 16 and under, a first place finish at the 2012 Long Beach Jr. Satellite El Dorado Park Tennis Center 16 and under, a first place finish at the 2012 East County CTA 2012 Jr. Satellite Tournament 18 and under, and finalists of the Queens of Hearts Foundation Open.
 
“Olivia will be my first player from California and am very excited for her arrival in fall. Olivia possesses a strong serve, but moreover the desire to be a great player. Jaclyn Rock Capsule:

Jaclyn Rock is the third of member of her family to play collegiate tennis, and arrives to Queens with an already impressive high school career under her belt. In 2012 Rock was a district champion in singles and doubles, and was crowned the state doubles champion and placed in the quarterfinals in singles.
 
“I am ecstatic to sign Jaclyn and am thrilled with all her options she chose Queens. Jaclyn will be the third member of the Rock family to compete in college tennis. I had the opportunity of coaching Merissa early in my career, Jaclyn's older sister who is one of the best players to ever compete in our conference. Jaclyn will compete towards the top of the lineup in singles and doubles and I look forward to aiding her development on and off court.” – Brett Karpman, Queens head coach
 
Jessee Clauson Capsule:
 
Jessee Clauson committed to Queens following a Colorado state double championship, and brings a strong lefty stroke and great height to the Royals' program.
 
“Jessee expressed great interest in the program early in the process, and she is an accomplished player who possess many physical tools. Jessee comes from a fantastic and supportive family and will represent Queens in the highest light.” Brett Karpman, Queens head coach
