Queens falls in tough match with Saints

Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. – Queens University of Charlotte dropped to 6-8 on the year and 4-4 in Conference Carolinas men's soccer action after falling 6-0 to Limestone College (7-0-1, 9-3-1) this afternoon. The Saints, ranked sixth in the Southeast Region, outshot the Royals 22-10 en route to picking up today's win over Queens.

Limestone's Thomas Metzemaekers got the home team going with a goal in the 18th after receiving the ball on a cross from Bryce Ziada. Sam Orritt would then put the Saints up 2-0 in the 34th with a shot from inside the 18 giving the game a 2-0 score into the break.

The Saints would open the game up in the second with two goals scored by Jorge Mckenna within a minute and a half of each other. Looking to dirty up the clean sheet, Queens put two great looks on frame in the second half but shots by Yannick Fischbach (Düsseldorf, Germany, J.L. Mann) and Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, W.Va., Princeton Senior) were turned away by Limestone's keeper, Tom Godfrey.

Limestone would put two more shots in the goal in the closing minutes to take the 6-0 victory over the Royals.

Queens' Montrell Morgan (Charlotte, N.C., East Mecklengburg) finished the game with seven saves, while Godfrey of the Saints completed play with five.

The Royals will travel to face Coker College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
