Royals handle Knights

Queens defeated St. Andrews 3-0.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte continued its winning streak stretching the count to six this evening with a win over St. Andrews University in volleyball action. The Royals are now 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the league, while the Knights drop to 2-12 on the season and 0-6 in conference play.

The Royals downed the Knights in three sets (25-13, 25-8, 25-15).

Leading the way for Queens was Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ) with 13 kills. Tori Hernandez (Gainesville, Fla., Gainesvillle) also contributed on the offensive end with eight kills alongside five from  Lindsey Everhart (Cincinnati, Ohio, McNicholls) and Keri Kemp (Lake Mary, Fla., Lake Mary)Avery Moore (Arlington, Texas, Lamar) dished out 25 assists on the evening. Everhart also served five aces in the match. On the defensive end, Brittney Barren (Ham Lake, Minn., Blaine), Everhart and Moore each collected seven digs. Hernandez picked up two solo blocks.

Celia Duggin led the Knights with nine kills and Megan Nelson notched 13 assits. Allie Garland totaled 17 digs on the back line.

The Royals dominated in today's match as St. Andrews finished with only a .030 hitting percentage. Queens completed the match with a .337 hitting percentage seeing only nine errors on 86 attempts. Errors also plagued the visiting team who picked up 18 attack errors, 10 reception errors, four serving errors and nine ball handling errors.

The Royals will host King College on Saturday at The Oven with the first serve taking place at 2 p.m.
