CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Royals played host to the Cobras of Coker College this evening in Conference Carolinas action falling 1-0 to the visitors. Queens drops to 1-2 in the league and 2-3 on the season, while the Cobras improve to 3-0 in the conference and 6-1 overall.
Despite outshooting the Cobras 13-to-7 in the game, the Royals were unable to find the back of the net.
With the game deadlocked at zero coming out the break, Coker's Carlos Recinos capitalized on an opportunity he found to score from inside the box putting the Cobras up 1-0.
The Royals turned the offensive pressure up taking a number of shots in the second half coming up unlucky as the Cobras escaped the Queens Sports Complex with the one goal victory.
Rodrigo Borda (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Colegio Santo Agostinho),
Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, W.Va., Princeton Senior),
Zach Mellon (Maiden, N.C., Newton-Conover) and
Felipe Netto (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Candido Portinari) took two shots apiece this evening.
Simen Walmann (Nevlunghavn, Norway, Toppidrettsgymnaset) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Royals collecting four saves.
James Sweeny was in the net for the Cobras tallying six saves on the night. Recinos led his team with five shots.
The Royals are back in action on Wednesday, September 28, when they travel to Wilson, N.C., to take on Barton College in a game set to begin at 7 p.m.
