HICKORY, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team picked up a convincing win this afternoon in their season opener against Lenoir-Rhyne. The Royals took advantage of the first year program at LR, beating the Bears 26-5.
Shannon Casey (Bel Air, Md., John Carroll) led the Royals with four goals and four assists. Brittany Philip (Corning, N.Y., Corning East) chipped in five goals to go along with her two assists.
Five different players scored for Lenoir-Rhyne - freshman Victoria Velton, Kelsey Anderson, Rachel Hall, Hayley Beattie, Stevie Dellinger - in the program debut for the Bears.
The Royals will play host to Lees-McRae College on Sunday, February 20th in a game slated to begin at noon.
